“Don’t let anyone tell you what it is.”
First off, this will be a short review, and will not contain any spoilers. I will say that knowing nothing about Catfish going into it made the theatrical experience that much more entertaining (I hadn’t even seen the trailer, just the poster).
In short: I kind of loved this movie. Information on the characters involved and the locations presented in the film are completely constructed via an HD cam shooting the screen of an Apple MacBook. The director of the film carries us through to the end not with fancy graphics constructed in After Effects, but with his camera, excellent editing, Facebook and Google Maps.
I’ll leave it at this:
Go see this movie. It’s okay if you know something about the film, because it’s still an enthralling experience. But if you’re lucky enough to go into it without knowing anything about it, run to the theatre now. The most fun I’ve had guessing at a film in years.
Watch the trailer (or just go see it!)
